VP of IT



Are you an experienced technology leader looking for the opportunity to advance your career in a great working environment?  We’re one of the fastest growing companies in America (#2 in South Carolina) and we’re looking for our first Vice-President of Technology to join our executive management team.  Reporting directly to the CEO, this newly created position will lead the technology division and will oversee our engineering, hardware/software, information security, and internal technical support teams and functions.  We’re looking for a hands-on leader with a proven track record of delivering timely results in a fast-paced but very collegial environment.  This position will require both strategic leadership and direct tactical execution to support our explosive sales growth and develop new product lines.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop technical aspects of the company’s strategy to ensure alignment with its business goals
  • Build minimum viable products (MVPs) for new tools and technologies
  • Hire new and lead current engineers, developers, and other IT professionals
  • Secure the company’s internal and external data, instituting appropriate security controls, running security audits, and providing basic security training and education
  • Act as the project manager for IT initiatives and new product development, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations and other relevant departments to define and deliver new products and enhancements
  • Determine appropriate application architecture
  • Supervise system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency
  • Scale product development
  • Lead engineering
  • Ensure appropriate quality of all external and internal software and platform releases; set and/or execute QA testing standards for all releases
  • Balance improvements and bug fixes for existing products against new product release priorities
  • Manage contractors and vendors; provide technical information and specifications to customers as needed
  • Discover and implement new technologies that yield competitive advantage and/or departmental efficiencies
  • Ensure appropriate forecasting and budgeting for IT needs
  • Track, analyze and monitor technology performance metrics and web analytics; make recommendations that align to business goals
  • Develop, engage and retain team members
  • Develop and implement disaster/emergency recovery plans
  • May represent company at key events (conferences, trade shows, investor meetings, etc.)

Ensure all technological processes and service comply with applicable requirements, laws, and regulations


  • 10+ years’ software development/engineering, information technology, or related role; 5+ years in management or leadership role
  • Proven track record of success as a leader in the information technology space
  • In-depth practical knowledge of networks, information security, and relevant programming languages and platforms
  • Exceptional project management and time-management skills; able to set and hit clear deadlines, both individually and as a leader of employees/contractors
  • Understanding of budgets, financial statements and business planning
  • Able to conduct technological analyses and research

  • Bachelor’s degree in information, technology, computer science, or related field required; Master’s degree in information technology, a technology-related discipline, or an MBA degree is a plus
